My client is seeking a Freelance Business Development Professional to support the scale-up of the business in Dutch and German-speaking markets. This role requires an experienced sales professional with strong networking skills who is willing to travel across the designated territory to engage with customers and prospects. The ideal candidate will have experience in B2G sales, ideally in the highways sector.
This is a key role in scaling up an innovative road safety solution with a meaningful societal impact, providing the opportunity to work within a dynamic European team that combines start-up agility with the backing of a global automotive leader. With a strong customer-driven approach, this role also presents the potential for long-term collaboration based on results.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Drive sales and business development activities for the business in Flemish Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany.
- Identify and proactively engage with prospective customers, including local authorities and road operators.
- Utilise active listening techniques to understand customer requirements and position solutions accordingly.
- Navigate public sector procurement processes and assist in developing effective sales strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, highways agencies, and road safety institutions.
- Support digital marketing efforts, attend trade fairs, and participate in industry conferences.
- Maintain detailed records of commercial engagements and leads in CRM system.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in B2G sales, ideally in the highways sector.
- Fluent in Dutch & English or German & English with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly advantageous if you are fluent in all 3 languages.
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to sell innovative, non-standardised solutions.
- Experience in public sector sales, preferably with established contacts in the highways and infrastructure market.
